Cheeks are one of the most abundant species in the Local Group. On Neith alone, there are over 69 trillion documented cheek sub-species. In 1207 CP, Leftenant Dr. Sheffenmeijer began his ground breaking cheek research by using electrochemical probes to place a lower limit on the total number of individual cheeks in the atmosphere of Neith; he found that Neith contained at least 1023 individual cheeks.

The Taxonomy of Cheeks§

Dr. Sheffenmeijer would spend the next three centuries studiously developing a comprehensive classification of cheek subspecies. His groundbreaking work culminated in the magnus opus: Sheffenmeijer's Taxonomy of Cheeks. This 8,593 page treatise is now required reading for all students attending Sheffenmeijer University. Generally, Rumps are expected to memorize most of the Taxonomy of Cheeks; in fact, the Hassimir council has been known to demand verbatim recitations of certain sections during RF promotion interviews.

Cheek Blooms and their effects§

Cheeks posed several environmental and medical threats to the Chickens of Neith. The Cheek Blooms belong to Venus: each spring the planet is inundated with newly hatched - and birthed - cheeks, and the swarms spill over onto its moon.

The spring Cheek Bloom often proved disastrous to the fuck-berry and ass-plum harvests. Perhaps most alarming, were the well known degenerative effects that high concentration cheek exposure has on the chicken anatomy. For an example of these effects, please see the chickens of Earth.

For all the cheeks of Neith, they are far more prevalent on planets than on moons. No one knows why. It is one more reason the Chickens have so often settled on moons, and the reason the Chickens of Earth, who live on a planet, have fared so badly.
