The Destruction of Chickenheim, also called The Fall of Chickendom, was the ruin of Chickenheim, the native home-planet of the Chicken peoples, in 0 CP.

It began as the war of Chæmbo, The Barbarian, and his alone. He answered to no one: he chose to attack Chickenheim himself, fought on the ground in flesh and blood, and for years made the destruction of Chickendom his single purpose. The war settled into a long stalemate.

Long afterwards, the Rumpish forces came to finish it, under Commander Felix Don Grompulous, "Felix the Ferocious". Beneath him, General Torumund Borgin, then a Lieutenant, had charge of the surveillance teams of Chickenheim Ops, which had watched the planet through the years of stalemate; when the assault came he went into the ground fighting himself, and there he earned his stripes. Reporting to Borgin was Lieutenant Gorginmeijer Borgleaus, then a Petty Officer, who was instrumental in the assault and is remembered for it still. In the fighting, a Chicken arrow was loosed at Chæmbo, and Borgin took the arrow in his place.

The Destruction closed the ancient age. Chæmbo’s Peace, the long subjugation of the Chickens by the Rumps, followed it, and the common era is counted from The Peace's first year, 1 CP. It is not to be confused with The Fall of Neith of 1777 AD (1898 CP).

The Chicken Diaspora§

With their home-planet lost, the Chickens scattered across the known universe and took refuge where they could, for the most part on moons. Chickenheim had been a planet; why its people sought out moons in particular is not fully known, though a small world is easier to hide on, and easier to leave, for a people still hunted by Chæmbo.

Chickendom, once the name of a continent on Chickenheim and of its government, came to mean all the Chicken peoples scattered throughout the universe on so many moons. Centuries later, in 234 CP, the Chickens discovered Neith, which gave them both sanctuary and a chance to begin anew, and which became the center of Chickendom in the Local Group.
