Luna, the moon of Earth, is the satellite that William Herschel sought to protect from the Rumpish military. Today it lies under the watch of Earth Ops.

We now know Herschel's refusal and subsequent staged failures to find the satellite were a last ditch effort to save Earth's moon from the clutches of the Rumpish military.
