The Chæmbrolāmbra
Also: Chæmbrolāmbra
The shadow of Chæmbo's ship, the Neith-Taker, vast enough to blot out the Sun; remembered above all from The Fall of Neith, when many Chickens did not heed it.
The Chæmbrolāmbra is the shadow of the Neith-Taker, the ship of Chæmbo, The Barbarian: a darkness vast enough to blot out a sun, with the ship hidden inside it. It falls wherever the ship goes, but it is remembered above all from The Fall of Neith in 1777 AD (1898 CP). As the ship drew near, The Chæmbrolāmbra fell across Neith and blotted out the light of the Sun, and the ship itself, wrapped in that darkness, could not yet be seen.
Some Chickens, Chief Kwimpala among them, understood what the darkness meant and urged the others to flee. Many would not, and they were taken with the moon. John Herschel's poem of 1837 AD remembers them: "Victorious Neith in Venusian umbra, / Heeded not the dawn of the Chæmbrolāmbra".
The name also appears in On Rumpnillion Bastadons.
